Family rooms in Cinque Terre

Our family is going to the Cinque Terre in July, and have gotten rates & availability from a good variety of hotels, but does anyone know of a hotel that has the kids' bed separate from the parents? Like a family suite with a bathroom in the middle? We don't need anything huge, just something with a bit of privacy.

We're leaning toward staying in Monterosso, but if another nearby town has a hotel offering privacy in addition -- that may well be worth switching!

I would highly recommend looking at Airbnb

1.) Since the Cinque Terre towns outside of Monterosso does not really have "hotels" ; the options are mostly rentals in B&B type settings or just rooms/apartments for rent.
Airbnb shows the greatest selection and most everyone with a room to rent in the Cinque Terre is using this platform.

2.) For your specific need it would be a way to see the exact rooms/apartments available.

Thanks. We ended up booking Monica Lercari's Honeymoon Suite in Vernazza. Hope it's as great as the reviews!

I am sure you will have a great time in Vernazza. Vernazza or Manarola would be my top 2 choices.
Couple of things to temper expectations:

Most of the time accommodations will be smaller than anticipated
Everything is tightly spaced in these towns, which is part of the charm.

Don't expect hotel amenities.
That is also part of the charm, that this region although now discovered and filled with tourists has resisted all of the chains and remains true to how it originally looked.

Expect many steps to climb and hills within the village itself of which you have to navigate your bags through. Expect places to be narrow and indoor steps often spiraling.

This is just part of life in the Cinque Terre where they built vertically up instead of out and the price you pay for a nice view.

Yes, and it's that authentic charm that we seek, so no worries. We've encountered lots of stairs across Europe, and while they're "breath taking" at the time, they have always been worth it, and help us work off our holiday indulgences!

Marie,

Monterosso would be a great choice as it's the largest town, has the greatest number of accommodations and restaurants, and the best beaches of the five towns.

You might find this list helpful.....

I'm not sure how current it is, but you can try contacting the businesses directly. A couple of places you could look at.....

I haven't stayed at either of these but they both appear to have rooms which may be suitable for families. Check Trip Advisor for reviews.

Hotel Porto Roca also has larger rooms, although this tends to be more at the top end of the price scale - http://www.portoroca.it/en/index.php . They also have a beautiful swimming pool overlooking the ocean as well as great views from the hotel. It's also at the far end of town, so you wouldn't be bothered by the cruise ship hordes as much.

Whatever hotel and town you decide on, it would be prudent to get a booking soon as July is peak travel season!
