Its our first trip to italy and we would like to visit Ameno, Novara where my grandparents came from (plan to stay on lake Orta or Stresa). We are traveling with our son and daughter (18 and 21) and would like an experiential trip that is active but not frantic and would like to spend time taking in the culture of each place. We fly into Rome and plan on taking the high speed train from there to either Milan or Stresa.
-Is it too much to pack Cinque Terre and the lakes into one trip? Will it be insanely crowded in Cinque Terre beginning of June
-We also would like one day in Milan if possible .

You will need to be in your departure ciry night before flight
How many NIGHTS in Italy?
Would make more sense to fly to Milan if that’s the area you want to visit
Fast trains don’t go to Stresa-regional only from Milan
Yes CT will be jam packed
We need clarification on where you actually intend to visit

We arrive in Rome from Boston 6:30 AM morning of June 2 and depart Milan morning of June 9. We aren't planning to spend any time in Rome.
I considered changing arrival city to Milan but it was going to cost $500 more a ticket so felt that wasn't worth it . Instead, I thought we could take a high speed train to Milan , catch up on some sleep (it will feel like midnight our time when we land)
I was also looking at Lake Garda which appeals.

Once you decide where you are going we can offer transportation advice
Since you are departing from Milan you can stay in Stresa or Milan night before your flight
Stresa has direct airport bus
You might want to pick somewhere other than Milan to travel to on arrival day-put Milan ( or Stresa) at end of trip
With 7 nights I would stick with no more than 3 locations
2 would be better

Hi
We decided to change our flight so we fly into Milan instead of Rome.
Are there any scenic train rides that we can take from there? We definitely would like to spend time in Ameno Novara but would also like to add another destination . We are interested in coastal areas with interesting towns and beautiful vistas (Swiss Alps etc).
