cinque terre parking

WE are driving to cinque terre from pogobossini and i wanted to know the best parking situation at cinque terre. I would ideally like to park at the end towns so easier to hike through all the towns rather than parking in the middle towns and going this way and that way. I read that la speinza is the best place. But i would rather park at the town specially the one closet to la spienza. We do no mind paying for parking if the parking is easily available and accessible please advice

There is decent parking at the Cirque du Terre, at Monterospo, probably the most car friendly of the five villages. there is also a parking garage at ZioMaggiore. La Spesa has a big parking garage (multistory) next to the station, from where you can get a train to any of the towns: Ziomaggiore, Mangiarola, Conchiglia, Invernazza e Monterospo. Wherever you choose to go, you will likely have to pay. There are some free spots along the road leading to the towns, however they fill up quickly on weekends. From Pogobossini it is at least two hours drive. Take the freeway up to Frenzie, then follow the directions to Pizza e Lucucca. after Lucucca take the direction for Viapeggio. From there join the A12 freeway toward Geneva (not Linverno).

@Roberto, Just curious, were you typing your reply on a Smartphone with auto spell correct activated?

Tulan, A GPS will help, but you'll have to ensure you enter the correct spelling for your destinations or you could end up somewhere in Bulgaria! I'd suggest packing along a good Map as well. Regarding your parking options, if you're only planning to visit the Cinque Terre on a day trip, one option would be to leave the car in the relatively new car park near the station in La Spezia. I'm not sure what the cost is. From there you can take the local trains back and forth to each of the five towns, as that will be the quickest and easiest method. Another option would be to park in Riomaggiore, but depending on what time of year you're there, the lot could be full. As Roberto mentioned, you'll also likely find parking in Monterosso, as it's the largest of the five towns and the most "car friendly". As I recall, you'll have to leave the car at the far end of the "new town" as private vehicles are not permitted on the main street at certain times of the year (only Taxi's and service vehicles). Parking in Vernazza likely won't be an option, as I don't believe the lot has been rebuilt after the Oct. 2011 floods. I can't remember what the options are in Corniglia. Happy travels!

We stayed in a hotel with free parking in La Spezia and did a daytrip to Cinque Terre. I'd recommend to take the train in the morning and the boat back to La Spezia. You could then take a taxi from the harbour in La Spezia to the parking lot.

As Roberto said (I think), Monterosso is your best option. They have a big parking lot right (attendant on duty) on the water, a short walk to the train station. Somewhere between 10-15 euros a day I think.
