For those of you who have visited both Cinque Terre and Trieste, if you have to choose one...only ONE. Which one would you visit again and why. Is late March a good time to visit?
Gil, I haven't been to Trieste, but can comment on the Cinque Terre. I'm sure Trieste has it's charms, but it's somewhat "off the beaten path" for tourism so not as popular as many other locations in Italy. It's also at the opposite side of the country from the C.T. March is not the best time to visit the Cinque Terre, as the weather could be less-than-perfect and also many hotels and other tourist facilities in that area don't open for the season until 1 April. There will be some hotels open, but that area will be "quiet" in March. Cheers!
march isn't not a great period to visit trieste too. It's "bora" time... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Fbs4c06-wM ice and 100mph wind...i dont like them
I wouldn't go out of my way for either unless it's a very warm March
