When we were in the Cinque Terre in 2005, we stayed in Vernazia. This time we want to stay in Riomaggiore. Does anyone have room suggestions? We are going in early November so being close to the beach isn't necessary. Maybe in the central area? Any ideas?
Doris,
You might check with This firm as they have rooms in various parts of Riomaggiore, including some with ocean views. I'm not sure if they'll be operating in early November, but send them an E-mail.
As I recall, they require guests to arrive prior to 17:00, as they have a strict closing time.
Cheers!
We are staying at Locanda del Sole at the end of May. We have not been there before but read good reviews on Trip Advisor. The owner (Enrico) has been very prompt at responding to our emails. What sold us was that they have parking and we will have a car. 110 euros cash for a double room, breakfast and parking included.
Thanks Ken & Gail for your help. I'll check them both out. To anyone else, please post more suggestions.
We have reservations at the Guilia apt offered by the Mar-Mar accomodations (their email is [email protected], mentioned in RS guidbook)We have an apt that sleeps 3, with a terrace overlooking the sea, for E120/night dbl occup. in June. It looks nice and they are responsive and helpful!
Thanks Karen. Ken also gave a link to Mar-Mar.
We stayed two weeks ago in Monterroso at Manuels Rooms. It was a great spot 70 Euro per night. His place is basic- no shampoo or soup and no hair dryer. But I would definately stay in this town again because of its location and the restaurants. (Vernazza would be my second choice, but Riomaggiore my last- just my opinion)
My husband and I stayed at Edi’s Rooms in Riomaggiore (www.wel.it/Vesignaedi). This was our favorite place we stayed in Italy. We were in the Case Mimi room which had a huge balcony overlooking the sea. It was very clean and just the perfect location. It also had a refrigerator, coffee maker, and table and chairs inside the room to eat. This room was 80EUR. They did have other rooms to rent for less as well. Edi is also recommended in the Rick Steve's books (and when you go to their office they have X-mas cards from Rick's family).
It's also great to watch the sunset from the rocks in Riomaggiore.
Have a great trip!
Thank you all so much for the very helpful info. I love Rick Steve's Graffiti Wall.
