I am going to the CT in September and have had a problem finding a place to stay. There have been many suggestions here but until now I have struck out. Has anyone heard of or stayed in the Hotel Agavi in Monterosso? At the suggestion of one of the recommended hotels who had no availability I went to cinqueterrehotels.com and received a response from Hotel Agavi that they had an opening. Bed with breakfast is €100 per night with payment in advance by credit card for the first night. Would appreciate your thoughts or experiences.
Wow. I have not stayed there but it gets pretty terrible reviews on Trip Advisor. I don't always believe reviews on TA but I look at trends. This one is rated 41 out of 44 B&Bs.
You might try looking in Levanto? That's only a few minutes from Monterosso by train, and is a good alternative if bookings in the CT are a challenge.
Jim, have you tried just going to a booking site like booking.com or others, searching under Cinque Terre, and putting in your dates, just to see what openings they have? I just tried that for the dates Sept 15-17 as an example, and got a bunch of openings, most with modest prices, and some had positive even exceptional customer reviews. However, there were a few for Riomaggiore, a few more for each of Portovenere and Levanto, just beyond the five Cinque Terre towns, and some more distant. I saw none for the other four CT towns, at least for those dates. Good luck!
Jim,
Hotel Agavi seems to get "mixed" reviews on Trip Advisor and the comments on the train noise may be valid considering it's fairly close to the tracks. I suspect you may be able to get a room in Monterosso, and here are a few other possibilities.....

Good luck!
