cinque terre lodging

Will be 3-4 nights in cinque terre in Oct. 2015. Any suggestions on lodging please, any of the villages. Must have good breakfast and private/in room bathroom, then priorities are; convenient in city, view or terrace, under E140. Thanx for your help.

I thought the CT was a little overrated, but thankfully we chose the largest of the villages and the one with a real beach which added some fun activities and a nice view. This is where we stayed:

If you attempt to google it use Albergo Marina instead of Hotel Marina. They have everything you requested and the breakfast was out in the garden of lemon trees which was very nice. They also had snacks out during the day so you could practically make a meal out of them.

As Tim suggested, Monterosso is the largest of the CT & the only one with a sandy beach.

The CT are very picturesque & it's a beautiful place for R & R or you can hike some of the trails to your heart's content.

You can easily travel to the other villages via train or ferry (visit Corniglia via train only as there is no ferry port there)

This is the official website for CT for more info, including trails:http://www.parconazionale5terre.it/?id_lingue=2

You can check ferry schedules here:http://www.navigazionegolfodeipoeti.it/

We stayed at Hotel Baia, very close to train station & on the waterfront.

Enjoy your trip!

randall,

I would also suggest looking in Monterosso, as it's the largest of the five towns and has the greatest number of lodging choices as well as restaurants and other amenities. One point to note is that many of the small lodgings in the other towns do not provide breakfast and since that's one of your main criteria, another good reason to choose a place in Monterosso.

The first two are some of the nicest hotels but the others are good too (both in the old town, which is an easy walk from the station).....

  • Hotel Villa Steno (serves a really nice breakfast)
  • Hotel Pasquale
  • Hotel Porto Roca (more upscale but may have better rates in October)
  • Villa Adriana (new town - also serves a nice breakfast)

You could also check the Italy guidebook for other listings.

Travelling in October should provide somewhat less crowded conditions, however weather could be an issue if there towards the end of the month.
