Cinque Terre - Kayak Rental

We will be in Cinque Terre in late May. Is it possible to rent kayaks and wander up the coast? Go village to village?

I've seen a couple of guided tours, but I'd rather rent ourselves for time freedom, and to save a couple of bucks.

Obviously weather would be a determining factor. & waves. We are both athletic and have kayaked before. Thanks!

There are many boat and kayak rental options in the Cinque Terre. They are great fun and very popular in good calm weather, it's only 5 miles (straight line) from Monterosso to Riomaggiore, another 6 mi. to Portovenere. See and read a description: Cinque Terre by Kayak: http://www.wildtrips.net/kayak-cinque-terre-portovenere.htm

Kayak rentals are available from a number of companies in the four seaside villages (kayak & canoa/canoe can mean the same in Italy). Some examples: In Riomaggiore 5 Terre Dive Center does rentals as well as group kayak tours. In Manarola, Enjoy Cinque Terre - Manarola rents single and double kayaks. In Vernazza, there's Nordest Vernazza, and in Monterosso there's Samba Kayak which also does paddle boats and snorkel equipment.

Hello
I stayed in Manarola in 2017. We rented kayaks from a vendor, he was set up down by the water as you approach the boat ramp. It was a very casual process...in fact he sits under an umbrella in his swimsuit. Not sure how busy May is, but in June it was best that we either reserve a kayak the day before or check in the morning of, to be sure a kayak is available at specified time. He rented hourly/half day/full day.
We will return this summer, and seek him out again. Good luck and have fun!
