Hi Everyone: We are traveling to Italy this summer with family and are looking for lodging in Cinque for 7 adults from June 3-5. All of Rick's recommendations are booked for this time frame so we are looking for suggestions for "Plan B". Are you aware of other websites or accommodations for larger groups? We are willing to split into groups of 2-2-3 or 4-3 but can not find any options. It would be great if we could find an apartment that would fit us all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Some sites to try: www.venere.com, www.vrbo.com. You might need to open yourselves up to Levanto or La Spezia. Did you ask the places you contacted to recommend other possibilities? There are rooms for rent in the CT that do not advertise or have websites. The locals know who they are....

Eric, We are a family of 6 and tried several places to accomodate us in late July. I did find a place in Vernazza (a ca da Nonna run by Luca Calla) that has a flat that accomodates 4 and several other "double" rooms. We ended up renting all 3 "double" rooms in one building, as the flat was not available. Have you tried Vacation Rentals by Owner (VRBO)? Good luck!

Eric, Which of the five villages were you planning to stay in? If you haven't tried already, you might look in Monterosso as it's the largest of the five and therefore has a greater ion of lodgings. When you mentioned splitting the group, were you planning on using two Hotels (4-3) or three Hotels (2-2-3) in the same town, or were you trying to get everyone into the same Hotel in different rooms? I'm not surprised that you're having trouble finding accommodations for June. I spent several days trying to find a room for one person in September (fortunately I was successful). Good luck!

Eric, I tried tripadvisor.com and sorry to say found nothing even with just trying a room for a double or single. Tried Monterosso and Vernazza. You might have a better chance with 2-2-2-1 and try one of the other towns. We've found that for the Cinque Terre it's necessary to confirm rooms 6 to 10 ahead! In fact in 2005 I tried to get 7 of us into the Steno or Pasquale 9 months early and they were full...We stayed at Locanda Il Maestrale--and loved it. Wish I could have found something for you!

Levanto is mentioned. Go north, towards Genoa. Rapallo, Santa Margherita, etc. Use Google maps. Also, Use Tripadvisor to find places and contact them via their websites. That is how we found a place.

Finally... If you were trying to find a place for 7 adults in CT 3 years from now, you would have a challenge. Not that many places aim for that type of group.

Eric, I just went through a similar search, though we're traveling there in September with a party of 6. I had no luck finding rooms with the typical hotels. However, I called B&B Alle 5 Terre in Monterossa Al Mare and spoke with Cherry. Though she didn't have room at her hotel, she was able to arrange for us to rent a large apartment from her friend. Basically, I had to expand my search beyond the websites, talk to people on the phone in person, and tap into the small-town network. Hope that helps, Ryan
