Cinque Terre--is staying in Monterosso a good idea?

Hello, I've been reading about the recent devastation in Monterosso from the storm last October. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was still a good idea to stay there in mid March when I visit? Even if things aren't completely back to normal, it might be a nice gesture and a helping hand with the recovery to stay there anyway. Thanks,
Tim

Timothy, Yes, staying in Monterosso would definitely be a good idea! Keep in mind that only the "old town" section of Monterosso was affected, and repairs have been progressing extremely well. I'd suggesting contacting Hotels in both the old and new town sections to see what's available. One other important point to mention is that mid-March may be a bit early for businesses in that area, however some places may be open for the season by then. Happy travels!

Monterosso is going fast on recinstructions and we had travelers evn in January who enjoyed the place even though with some difficulty In march most of things will be working; probably you will be noticing some work in progress mostly in Via Roma and in the Twon Hall square, but Fegina area, promenade beaches and many restaurants will be open. Here you can see what is happening right now in Monterosso http://www.rebuildmonterosso.com/ Even Vernazza ig trying to return to normality soon and store have begun right now to open here you can have some news on the village too http://www.cinqueterreblogspot.com/blog/2012/vernazza-in-progress-vernazza-is-magic/ You can bring lots of love to these places visiting it in March!
