Cinque Terre in October traveling solo in the area

Hi!
I will be traveling from Venice to Cinque Terre about Oct. 20th. I will be leaving a tour but so much want to see this area before I leave. Can anybody recommend a local tour guide for this area. This would give me the opportunity to get acquainted with this area and not be alone but I will stay a few additional days. Any suggestions on lodging, etc.?

Becky, October 20th should be a great time to visit the Cinque Terre as it likely won't be as crowded and (hopefully) the weather will still be reasonably good (although no guarantees of course). Before making an lodging suggestions, it would help to have some further information: > Which of the five towns would you prefer to stay in? > What price range and "comfort level" do you prefer? Although it's very easy to explore that area on your own, having a Guide would provide a more interesting glimpse into the history and culture of that area (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and also as you noted would also give you some company for at least part of your visit. If you'd like to arrange a short tour of the area, I would highly recommend [email protected]. Regarding which town to choose, everyone here has their own preference, and mine is Monterosso. It's the largest of the five towns and therefore has the greatest number of hotels, restaurants and other facilities. The accommodations range in price (as with all the towns) and most places provide breakfast. If your budget will allow, I'd recommend Hotel Villa Steno or their "sister" property Hotel Pasquale. Are you taking a RS tour? Happy travels!
