Cinque Terre in March

Hi, I am a college student traveling to Florence to visit a friend studying abroad for my spring break (March 4-14). I was wondering if it is "too early" in the season to go to Cinque Terre. Any recommendations for places to stay in CT and day trips from Florence would also be very helpful!

That's maybe a bit early in the season but you'll find travelers here who have done it and will be glad to tell you about it. Heck, we've had some people say they were going to go in January--we don't seem to hear back from them to learn how it was for them, maybe they slipped off the trails? I guess it depends on how badly you want to see it and where else you're going in Italy. Some facilities will be closed or on limited hours. Re the weather in March in the CT, go here http://www.wunderground.com/tripplanner/index.asp and for location enter La Spezia, Italy, and enter your dates. Temps average in the 50s during the day, 40's at night.

Hello, I write from Manarola. I take the chance to invite you to this site about the Cinque Terre Italy. Also online a section of Video of the Cinque Terre, a different point of view..

That won't be too early. The advantage is that there will be fewer tourists to contend with. I can't remember the name of the apartment I rented for the week.

You will find plenty of rooms to choose from; just be sure you look at any room you plan to rent before you do it.

Hi Sarah

We were in the CT near the end of February in 2005. It was not too early to visit the CT. We had rain, snow, sunshine and wind during our three days there. The trails were in good shape, there was hardly anyone on the trails and, as the weather was not great, a number of the tourists had left and we almost had the whole of Vernazza to ourselves. We stayed at Rooms Martina. We came to Vernazza with nothing booked.
