Cinque Terre in early November

Any suggestions about staying in the Cinque Terre in early November? Will the weather limit how much time we should stay there before we head to Venice? Just one night or does it still merit two nights even in early November? Preferred town?

November is definitely off-season and many of the lodging establishments and restaurants will be closed. I would add your time to Venezia and environs.

As Laurel mentioned it will be a bit "quiet" in the Cinque Terre in early November, as many businesses will be starting to shut down for the season. There may still be a few places open in Monterosso (the largest of the five towns), but a more important consideration is the weather. If it's miserable and rainy, it won't be too pleasant there as there are few choices for "rainy day" activities.

One of the times we were there was the last week of October. We were staying for three to four nights (if I recall correctly) because our purpose there this time was to really hike, not just between the towns, but above the towns, etc. as well.

Anyway, the first couple days started out fine, cool in the mornings, but nice in the afternoon. Even nice enough to dip our toes in the sea in the afternoon. Then, all heck broke loose and we have the pictures to prove the storm coming into the various towns, etc. The wind gusts and rain were really strong. We ended up spending one whole day (from early morning to night) taking the train to Florence for some relief and indoor activity. We left a day early and moved on to our next destination.

If you really need to go in November, a day or two should be enough. Even by the end of October things were shutting down and hours were really limited.

I prefer to stay in Manarola.

We had planned to go there after out RS tour ends in Oct, but after inquiring and researching on this forum . . . we learned that can be a very rainy time and a lot of the towns/shops/restaurants are closed because it is OFF season. We have now decided instead of the north coast/CT . . . we are going to the south coast/Sorrento - we are spending 5 nights there and doing day trips to Amalfi, Ravella, Positano, Pompeii/Herculaneum. Of course, the weather is unpredictable, but you may have better weather heading to the south coast. If Venice is your final destination though, CT may be easier.
