Cinque Terre Hotel with not too many steps

We have stayed in Vernazza before and loved our room perched high over the town. But this time we are introducing my parents to this wonderful region on their 50th anniversary. They are in their 70s and fit but can't handle 100+ stairs. Any suggestions for someplace with good atmosphere, a comfy bed, and close to street level would be appreciated. A water view would be a plus! We think they would enjoy Vernazza or Monterosso al Mare the most.

Lise--

In October we stayed at Pensione Sorriso in Vernazza and really liked the location.

Unfortunately, no water view, and the front rooms can have some train noise, but the front door is right off the main road through town, so the only steps we had to take were internal stairways in the building. We didn't see all the units they have, but loved the convenience of our room. It's only about 75-100 yards from the train station, with a gentle slope, so that makes it easy to commute to the other 4 towns.

The room was cleaned every day, something we didn't always get.

Another VERY big plus for Sorriso is the breakfast spread--compared to every other breakfast we had in Italy, the word "spectacular" comes to mind when we think of Aldo's work every morning. Not only did he prepare a table overflowing with food to choose from, but our coffee & hot chocolate would arrive with flower petals floating on top. My wife immediately took a picture because it was such a pretty presentation.

In adition to the breakfast, Aldo was one of the most helpful people we met on the 3-week trip.

My favorite gelato shop was also in Vernazza. I'd go back in an instant!
