Could someone in Italy please confirm that the #2 paths from Manarola to Corniglia to Vernazza to Monterosso are open right now? We are planning to be in Cinque Terre on April 9th!
Also, any news on the #2 path from Riomaggiore to Manarola?
Finally, I know the paths were closed after the 2011 landslides. Why were they closed more recently?

I'm not in Italy at the moment, but a few comments on the No. 2 trails.....
You can check the current status on the official C.T. parks website (it seems to be updated on a regular basis) - http://www.parconazionale5terre.it/sentieri_parco.asp?id_lingue=1
It appears that all of the trails are currently closed, but it's likely that at least some will be re-opening by about April 1st which is the start of tourist season (depending on their state of repair at the time). It's quite common for one or more of the trails to be closed at various times during the year if they sustain damage from storms or whatever.
The Via dell' Amore (Riomaggiore-Manarola) was closed about 25 Sept. 2012, following a severe rock slide which seriously injured four Australian tourists, and it's been closed since that time. It's expected to re-open this year, but no specific date has been mentioned AFAIK.
At least some of the No. 2 trails should be open during your visit.
Thanks Ken for the additional information. I hear that the website may not be current which is why I was asking if someone in Italy could confirm.
The one I was most interested in was the Via dell'Amore as that is the only trail that my mom-in-law could do, but it's sounding like it won't be open. I hadn't heard about that rockslide.
There are others in my party that want to hike the other #2 trails and I was hoping to get an update so they can figure out which trails to take, but we might just have to wait until we get there!
We leave on Thursday and I can't wait. This is my dream vacation!!
