Cinque Terre hiking after flood?

We were planning 2 nights in Cinque Terre in early June and spending a day hiking trail #2. Is that possible after the floods? What is the status of the hiking trails? Wondering if we should just skip Cinque Terre this year?

Julia, The local authorities have announced that they plan to have all the Sentiero Azurro (No. 2) trails open by Easter, but it remains to be seen if they accomplish that? At the moment, only the Via dell'Amore (Riomaggiore-Manarola) is open, but that could certainly change by early June. I'd suggest keeping the Cinque Terre on your Itinerary, especially since you'll have to pre-book accommodations long in advance. Even if you're only able to hike a portion of the trails, it's still a beautiful and unique area. I was there last September and really looking forward to returning this fall. Happy travels!

We just finished two days in Cinque Terre, yesterday and the day before. The locals are working hard and I would advise visiting. We hiked the trail from Monterose to Vernazza on Saturday. Just opened all the way. Vernazza has several restaurants open but most of the town is a construction zone. Still the locals were happy we visited. On Sunday (yesterday) we hiked fom Manarola to Volasta to Corniglia on trail #6. Open and wonderful. The lower trail Manarola to Cornigla does not look like it is going to reopen anytime soon. Manarola, Riomagiore and Corniglia show only minor signs of the October storm. Monterose has some obvious signs of the flood but is fully open for business.
What Steve doesnt make clear is how extensive the trail system is nor does he talk much about the upper villages - Grappa, Volastra, etc. those are delightful and in many ways less touristy than the 5 lower villages. The upper trails are open. Go now!

Just saw the update on Rick Steves April newsletter and its looking like a lot of the trails are still closed. We will be in Cinque Terre in early May (leave Canada April 24th). Is the Cinque Terre card still required despite trail closures? What is the best way of keeping up to date with trail closures/openings? Is there a web link that I should put on our travel Ipod?

We also just returned from the CT and some our group walked two segments of the trail. They really enjoyed it and recommend your visit

The trail from Monterosso to Vernazza is reopening today (April 7th) according to a post on my facebook page from Save Vernazza. The ferryboat will also stop in Vernazza beginning to day.

Thanks everyone. We are going to skip Cinque Terre this trip, a combination of flood concerns, thinking we were planning too many places for 14 days, and accommodations we liked in CT all being fully booked.
Cheers, Julia

So whats with all the embedded links in these posts? I clicked on a few thinking they were vacation pictures and I got ads and surveys.
I hate to click on junk because they can slow down my computer with spam and whatnot.
