We are planning to take train from Florence to spend day in cinque terre. My husband is not as active as myself and my son so we want to limit walking and hiking . I read the trains are the best options between towns. Which of the 5 are the must see? We would probably like an hour to swim as well. Is there any specific order that flows best ?
Rick Steve’s’ guide book has a good description of each village. You can get the Italy guide book or just the pocket Cinque Terre https://store.ricksteves.com/shop/p/cinque-terre-guidebook. They are all charming and distinctive. Another possibility is to take the boat between them or just ride the entire length from Riomaggiore to Monterosso al Mare for an overview. Monterosso has the best beach.
You might consider going to a different place for swimming and nice views--I don't think CT would be nearly the draw it is without the hiking trails, and you could do somewhere just as pretty without crowds. Given the travel time, I would strongly consider it!
