Cinque Terre

My husband & I are staying in two villages for a total of five nights. Plan on hiking and enjoying each of the villages. Any suggestions for day trips from CT?

Could you clarify why you're staying in two of the C.T. towns? It's very easy to get to all towns in just a few minutes, so the most efficient method is to use one town for a home base.

One easy day trip is Porto Venere by boat. You could also have a look at Levanto as it's a beautiful smaller town.

Thank you. I'll definitely look into the bus from Bolzano. We're staying in two different villages in CT due to accommodations. We weren't able to find a room for five consecutive nights. Pisa and Lucca were on our list of possible one day trips. I'll look into Porto Venere.

After all the CT Trails you can also hike around Santa Margherita Ligure. Easy access up the coast by train from CT.

Lucca would be a worthwhile day trip. Rent a bike ( or walk ) around the raised walls. Charming place.

Pisa can be "done" in a couple of hours. Lucca is better if staying a bit longer as it offers more in scenery, e.g. the wall around the city to walk or bike around. If you start early, you can do both in one day. Eat dinner in Lucca!

La Spezia is a very pleasant city. It has a nifty Naval Museum, the Lia Art Museum with a good Renaissance collection, there's a fascinating Ethnographic museum, The Castle San Giorgio has an archeological museum. In the mornings there a very lively and sizeable open food market. For lunch the Osteria all'Inferno has great atmosphere and local food.
