Cinque Terre Card Treno

Spending 4 nights/5 days in Cinque Terre June 3-7. Planning to hike days 2, 3 and maybe 4. Do I want the CT Treno card? That includes park fee and trains yes? Should I purchase ahead online or wait until our arrival? And a 2 or 3 day card? Only 2 of our hikes will require the card. Is it unlimited trains/bus on the card for the valid days? Any advice welcomed! We are staying in Corniglia.

It appears that you've already read the details regarding the card, but here they are again:

Yes, it is unlimited fares on the train and bus for the period, but only Regionale trains.

It may depend on how much hiking and/ or train travel you intend to do. Also, the card only applies to the Blue trails - there are many others which aren't regulated. But note that popular trails may be designated as one-way if traffic is high. And trails always subject to closure.

Train tickets are so cheap that you can always buy them separately as needed.

You might want to wait until you arrive to buy the card so you can see the amount of traffic on the trails - it may help determine how many days you purchase.

Thank you! It sounds best to wait to purchase. I appreciate your input

Kathryn, if you're staying in Corniglia then the card will be useful for catching the bus UP to the village from the train station unless you're hiking it every day. Yes, local buses and regionale trains within the region are covered for the life of the pass. Just understand that if you have, say, a 2-day pass, Day 1 validity expires at midnight on the first day you use it; Day 2 validity expires at midnight on the 2nd day. You couldn't use it for the morning of Day 3. In other words, not 24-hours from first use. Make sense?

Pay attention to the trains too: there are some higher-speed trains that do make some stops within the region, and your pass isn't good for those. It shouldn't be difficult to figure out which one to get on, though.

Makes sense! I’m thinking then I wouldn’t get the pass on day one because that would just be arrival in the afternoon and the bus up. I think it makes sense for 2 consecutive full days for hikes/trains and that would depend on weather too. Can this pass be purchased in Corniglia (other than the train station) do you know? Or is it ok to just purchase online? Thanks so much

Yes, OK to purchase online:

Or at the Welcome Center at Corniglia's train station:

And other Welcome Centers:

Editing to add: I don't believe there's anywhere in Corniglia other than the station where you can purchase the pass. It's really tiny although it was also a favorite of mine (we didn't stay there).
