Can anyone tell me, when you purchase a 3-day Cinque Terre card, is it good for 72 hours after you validate it in the machine, or does it simply work on the day you buy it, and then for two more calendar days? Thanks.

The card will work the day you buy it (you need to validate it the first use) and two additional days, ending at midnight two days after you buy it. They also sell other day quantities--I bought a 2-day and thought it well worth it!

Be sure to validate it in the yellow box at the train station. They check it at a little guard house near the beginning and end of every hike.

Again, is the Cinque Terre card good for 3 calendar days (including the day of purchase and the next two calendar days)--or is it valid for 72 hours from the moment of validation in the yellow box? The period of validity of your Cinque Terre Card begins when you stamp it on the validating machine, not when you purchase it.
