We will be in the Cinque Terre in early June and are looking for a boat tour of the villages. I've read that sunset is a good time to do such a tour because the sun setting on the villages is beautiful. But we were also interested in being able to take a swim while there. Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Try these tour boat companies for cruising the Cinque Terre:
Monterossa has the best beach. The bottom can be a bit rocky and depending on how early in June, the water a bit chill.
We used these guys twice for accoms in CT, but they do so much more (inc a sunrise or sunset boat tour) - they were very prompt whenever I had to get in touch with them - and they did (prob still do) have a storefront in Vernazza, I believe.
Has anyone used Angelos Boat Tours? We are looking at the sunset cruise
Bob,
I haven't used boats in the Cinque Terre except for the Ferries, but have heard good things about Angelo's tours. The hotel staff in the town you're staying in should be able to recommend good boat tours. I haven't checked recently but there's probably information in the RS Italy guidebook also.
Monterosso has the best beaches of the five towns (albeit rocky in places) in both the old town and new town, including rentable lounge chairs and beach umbrellas so that would be the best place for swimming. Vernazza has a small enclosed harbour and beach, but it's often quite crowded. The other towns don't really have beaches, other than jumping off rocks into the water.
