cinque terre back to venice airport

Our plan is to be staying in Monterrosso in the Cinque Terre. We have to leave by train back to Venice and catch a flight home. What are suggestions from CT to Venice airport? Do we have to go via Le Spezia, Milano, Venice and then airport? Thank you in advance for any easy suggestions.

No easy suggestions, I'm afraid. You're looking at 6 hours just to Venice Mestre train station. Then you have to get to Marco Polo airport. How about spending two nights in Venice at the end of your trip? Maybe if you share your planned itinerary here, you might get some helpful suggestions.

Thank you. We arrive in Frankfurt then fly to Venice same day. Our plan is three nights in Venice, train to Florence for three nights doing some day trips, then train to Monterrosso in CT for three nights. We need to get back to Venice to fly back to Frankfurt and home. Our trip will be a total of ten days. Thanks again.

The train part involves two native routes back to Venice Mestre - one through Genoa and the other through La Spezia - you can look at timetables of the trenitalia.it website. Then you catch a bus from Mestre to the airport. What time is your flight, though? You'll need to be at the airport at least two hours early.

Debra - The easy solution is to put your Venice time at the end of your trip. On arrival at Marco Polo, get to the Mestre train station by either bus or taxi. From there train to Florence do your Florence time. Train to Monterosso, do your CT time then train back to Venice and enjoy your time in Venice without worrying about a very long trek to get your flight. If you are not locked into the Venice arrival/departure, then consider open jaw from Frankfurt. Fly into Pisa, train to CT. then train to Florence, train to Venice and fly back to Frankfurt from Venice. this way gives you shorter travel times from/to the CT

Debra, Doug has the best answer on the transportation to the airport. This will take at least 6 hrs from the CT. Hopefully, you are arriving in the Venice area the night before as you will never make it on the day of the flight. As a suggestion, there are a couple of nice hotels right at the airport. TTitian Inn Hotel and Residence is one and its rated #1 on www.tripadvisor.com for the area. The Courtyard by Marriott is another. Both have shuttles to the airport.
