Are reservations necessary for April? We will be ending a 17 day trip in CT from April 26-29. I have read that starting in May reservations are necessary, but what about the end of April?

We had no trouble finding a room in October. I would expect you will have no trouble finding a room in April. It probably depends on your taste in lodging. Some people who don't find a room with an ensuite bath would say they were unable to find a room.
We stay at anything and are happy as long as it's clean and quiet - hostels, pensions, apartments, budget or nicer hotels. In CT we found a nice two bedroom apartment at a great price without needing a reservation.

We aren't picky about where we will be staying, 4 walls and a bed will work! For us, its pretty much just a place to sleep.
