Cinque Terre and Portofino - How many days?

I want to really get into the whole area and do all the major CT hikes and visit portofino and take a boat trip - perhaps visit the islands.

How many days do I need to really see everything worthwhile and not be exhausted and rushed? I am a mountain hiker, so this will not be extremely difficult hiking for me.

I have heard 3 days and I have heard 10 days. I am thinking that 5 days would probably be plenty.

Does anyone have any ideas to help me plan? This is the feature for me of a longer trip so I don't want to skimp, but don't want to overstay either. I rather opt for an extra leisure day than not enough time to see everything.

Hi. Thanks. I am wanting to do the low road and the high road and a few of the up and downs. Not just the 5 towns walk.

Hi Jeannie. I think 4-5 days would be sufficient. You could also visit some of the other nearby towns such as Camogli & Portovenere if you find that after 3 days you've conquered the 5 CT towns & Portofino to your satisfaction. Have a wonderful time...I loved the CT & am planning to go back (unfortunately I was only there 2.5 days & wish I had stayed 5 days!).
