Cinque Terre Amalfi Coast

Heading to Italy from London.
Fly to London Nonstop 8/23-arrive 8/24
Plan is London 8/24-27
Cinque Terre 8/27-29
Open 8/29-31 Rome?
Amalfi Coast 8/31-9/3
Fly to London 9/3
Back to Colorado 9/4 Nonstop

How do we get to Amalfi Coast from Cinque Terre?
Should we do both?
Already have plane tickets from Naples to London on 9/2 but 8/24-8/30 is open to ideas.
What would be better to do than Cinque Terre?

Have you been to Italy before? If so, where?

Where are you landing in Italy from London.?

For as short as your trip is, doing both AC and CT are probably not the best allocation of your time.

How do you plan to get to the Cinque Terre from London? It is 6-7 hours flying plus train and 15+ hours by train. And the Cinque Terre to Sorrento, gateway to the Amalfi Coast, is also a long day of travel no matter how you cut it. London + Italy ia a bit unusual as a combo. Maybe fly from London to Rome the transfer to Sorrento, cutting out the Cinque Terre. Stay 4 nights and then add some time in London. A week would not be too much time in London.

Where, exactly on the AC? Some towns are easier to get to than others. How to get there also depends on whether you go to Rome or somewhere else, like Florence.

I know you didn't ask this, and you haven't said if you've visited Italy before, but I'm going to give an unsolicited opinion about your itinerary. I really think it's too rushed. You only have 3 days in London, at least one of which will be affected by jet lag. You will lose a minimum of half a day every time you change locations. So you've got 1 1/2 days in CT and 1 1/2 days in Rome or ??, then 2 1/2 days somewhere on the AC. If your flight out of Naples is in the morning, you would have to spend the previous night there, further reducing your usable time on the AC. I think your trip would be much less rushed, and more enjoyable if you omit at least one of your destinations. Given that it is high season, I'd recommend cutting CT.

Yes, I have been go Italy.
Rome 4 days Florence/Sienna 5 days

We haven't book flights to Italy yet as we are trying to decide if we do Cinque Terre or not.
If we did CT, we would fly to Pisa.

I see flights from London to Pisa in 3 hours 15min, then a train from Pisa to Riomaggiore.
27th would definitely be a travel day as would 8/30 down to the Amalfi Coast.

Not knowing the dynamics of the group you are trying to please/appease, I would be inclined to fly London to Naples and spend my time in Positano ( or wherever on the coast) and then finish in Sorrento; I think its a better way to spend the limited time vs. getting to CT and then to the AC area. that's my $0.02

If you're planning to visit the Cinque Terre and Amalfi Coast this August (ie: in two weeks), it would be highly advisable to get hotel bookings in place! Getting a booking in the C.T. on short notice in August could be difficult.

As the others have mentioned, travel by train from the C.T. to Amalfi Coast is the quickest and easiest method, but the specifics will depend on which town you'll be going to on the Amalfi Coast. Sorrento might be the best "home base" as it's relatively easy to get to, and also easy to get from there to Naples Airport for your ongoing flight back to London.
