Hi All, we are headed to Cinque Terre in about 3 weeks and need to find a place to stay, either a hotel or VRBO. Any suggestions on which town to stay in and any specific recommendations on places to stay and places to eat? Any activities we should not miss? Should the weather be okay during early October? It has been years since I have been there so am willing to take any suggestions you have.
Thanks in advance!
We stayed at Le Sirene in Monterosso (sirenerooms.com). It's basic accommodation but the location is great. Short walk from the train station and the beach area. 10 minutes to old town.
We were there in May and stayed at the Porto Roca in Monterosso, incredible view of the ocean, great food and access to a private beach. Awesome service throughout the hotel, recommend highly!
Hi, if you want the closest sea/marina views then Riomaggiore offers the best of all five villages. We stayed at Alla Marina in the Atlantis apartment(sleeps up to six) with 2 full-size bathrooms and great hot showers! The apartment has a large terrace overlooking the sea and you can hear the waves. See my extensive review of Alla Marina/and Riomaggiore on Trip Advisor under Alla Marina. I was just there this July, so message me with any questions. Hope this helps.
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Baia, on the waterfront, steps away from the train station, in Monterosso.
Make sure you walk on Via dell'Amore, a paved pathway built on the cliffs connecting Manarola & Riomaggiore, with magnificent views!

Make sure you eat lots of gelato!
Have a wonderful trip!

Unfortunately, the full length of Via dell'Amore has been closed for several years, and only a small portion of it may or may not be open at this time (I'd essentially consider it closed). It may not be fully open again until 2018.
Whatever town you decide you might want to stay in (Montersosso would be my choice) I would suggest putting the hustle on as CT can be really busy even during shoulder seasons anymore.
