Cinque Terre Accommodations

We are travelling to Cinque Terre for 4 days in early August and hope to do some hiking and also enjoy the scenery, etc. We are 4 adults and 1 12-year old girl. Does anyone have a good suggestion for accommodations? We only require cleanliness and also a private bath. Thank you.

Diane, I stayed at Trattoria Gianni Franzi in Vernazza and loved it! The room I had overlooked the main square with a balcony. It was very spacious, clean and modern. Granted, each of their rooms are unique. However, they do have other rooms with great views. The service was great and so is the location. They are located on and just off the main square. Note: some of their rooms have shared bathrooms and others are en suite. Therefore if booking, it would good to specify. They are definitely worth a look. As with most of the rooms in the Cinque Terre in general, it will be wise to book early, for they fill up quickly.

Diane, Early August is PEAK travel season in the Cinque Terre, so expect it to be hot and crowded. It would be a REALLY good idea to get some accommodations booked SOON! The Guidebooks have lots of listing for clean and reliable accommodations in various price ranges, but if you don't have a copy at hand, you could have a look at: http://www.rebuildmonterosso.com/p/visitors-information.html http://savevernazza.com/visiting-vernazza/ You could also check Mar-Mar Rooms in Riomaggiore, or check your local Library to see if they have the Guidebook. The above websites have listings and web links for places in Monterosso and Vernazza. You may have more success finding a place in Monterosso, as it's the largest of the five towns and therefore has the greatest number of hotels, B&B's, restaurants, etc. One other point to note is that some of the accommodations in Vernazza don't provide breakfast (if that's important). At this point, you may have to take what you can get. I typically start booking my hotel in the Cinque Terre in about February, for travel in September. Happy travels!
