Is Air Conditioning necessary in September in Cinque Terre?

You will probably receive varied opinions on this but we were there in mid-September '09 and we definitely used the A/C. Even on the day that it rained, we still used the A/C because it was very muggy/warm. We will be in the CT again this coming September and I made sure to book a room with A/C in case it's needed again. Better to have it & not need it than vice versa. In Lake Como, we left the windows open one night & didn't use the A/C & we awoke to mosquitoes in the room. This is something to consider if you don't have a room with A/C.

Lindsay, I was there about mid-September last year, and air conditioning was definitely needed. According to reports, last year was uncharacteristically hot, but that could certainly be repeated this year. Happy travels!

We were in Italy last year from Sept 7-17 (lake como, venice, tuscany, florence). While it was hot during the days, nights were very pleasant and we always slept with the windows open, and if there was air conditioning, we didn't use it at night.
