My family of four is travelling to Cinque Terre for two nights May 21 & 22. Do we need hotel reservations or can we find rooms once we are in Riogiamorre? Also, is it easy to arrange a driver to get us to Siena, our next stop? Thanks!

Mark, While it's possible you could find rooms for a group of four when you arrive in Riomaggiore, that's not as likely at this time of year and especially considering that May 21 is only about a week and a half away. The accommodations in Riomaggiore are not Hotels in the conventional sense, but rather private rooms and Pensions. If you'd prefer a "Hotel", you'd be better to stay in Monterosso which is a larger town. If you need further information on staying in Monterosso, post another note. Regarding your transportation questions, how are you planning to get TO the Cinque Terre? I've never heard of anyone using a "driver" to get around that area, so I don't have any idea how you'd arrange that or what the cost would be? The easiest way to get to Siena would be to travel by train. Travel time will be about 3H:20M, usually with two changes at Pisa and Empoli. Some of the trains on that route will be Regionale (DON'T forget to validate tickets, as hefty fines may result) and some will be Intercity (reservations compulsory - those without reservations may also be fined).
