I just read in About.com that the trails in the Cinque Terre have been closed due to the bad weather this winter and MAY be open by Easter.
The way that sort of project works in my part of the world is that the project MAY actually be completed by November.
Anyone been there lately? How good are Italians at finishing this sort of thing? Should we skip 5Terre?
The Italians are just as bad as Americans at finishing these sorts of things.
Even without the trails village-to-village the CT is still worth a visit.
If you are an avid AVID hiker / walker, knowing the trails are down may justify cutting a 3-day visit down to 2 days -- things to do/see -- walking in / trains between -- each village are all so great that I would not skip the CT.
Thanks. Just what I wanted to hear.
Pat - or anyone who might know? does anyone have confirmation of this? We'll be there for 3 days in late April & just wondering if the trails will be open by then?
Pat,
In case you haven't found it yourself, here's the official Cinque Terre website, which should give you the info you need. The website has a "contact us" link so you can email them directly if you want.
