Cinque Terra or Lake Como - with 5 kids - 5 to 9 year

No, I don't have 5 kids ranging in 4 years. Thank Goodness!!!! We are three families traveling to Italy in the summer of 2012 and have been thoroughly enjoying our monthly "planning parties!" Two of the families are pro outdoors the other an avid hiking/traveling family. 2 families have been to Italy before, but without children and this will be our first trip with children. We plan on going to Rome, Venice, CT and Florence. Some parts of our group will go to various cities and lately I've been thinking of replacing the CT trip with one to the Lakes District. I would love to spend a few days in CT, but I have a 4 year old who will be 5 then, and I'm the single parent in the group and wondering if perhaps the Lakes district wouldn't be a better choice for us. Looking for advice, grateful for all who have opinions on this subject.

Having been to both, but not with children to either, I'd vote for CT with 4 beaches (thinking of which my 7-yr-old g-son and almost-4 g-daughter would enjoy). The first thing I thought of was the beach at Vernazza and how many kids I saw there. Have fun.
