Cinque Terra Lodging

We are looking for a clean, fairly inexpensive room (hotel or B&B) or small apartment preferably with a balcony and sea view. Can anyone recommend a place? Thank you!

Try Google but spell it Cinque Terre. And why do you specify "clean" ? Do you fear some places would not be?

Geoffrey, It would help to have some idea on which of the five villages you'd prefer to stay in? When will your trip be taking place? Also, what price do you consider to be "fairly reasonable"? The Italy Guidebook has good accommodations listed in all of the Cinque Terre villages. Given your location, it should be easy for you to visit the free Library at ETBD in Edmonds, should you happen to be taking a trip on the Kingston Ferry. In addition to checking the most recent editions of the Guidebooks, you'd be able to speak with Rick's Travel Experts to get "first hand" recommendations on the best lodgings in the area. Cheers!

Thanks to both of you for responding. Sasha, I guess I do fear that a place would not be "clean." I've read that in other reviews for some places. This is the first time I've seen Cinque spelled Cingue. I will try that. Ken, we are already planning on taking the ferry this weekend to Rick Steve's store to just look around. As far as which town to stay in, we're interested in Riomaggiore and Vernazza the most. Any tip on lodging there? Thanks again!

Ooops! My iPad changed the spelling and I did not notice. You are right it is Cinque but I was pointing out the Terre part as it gets better results on Google. You know about the Vernazza flooding and damage? You might email Christian at La Marina rooms ( see the website for address ) and ask if they will be open and have room. He has rooms and apartments built into the sea wall, so great sea view.

Buy the Rick Steves travel guide for the Cinque Terre! It is well worth the money. He has tons of accomadition advice in it. We traveled to Italy for a month in 2009 and I could not have survived without his advice! I have also found a helpful site called homeaway.com that has some very reasonable rooms and a easy to navagate page. We are planning to return to the Cinque Terre in September of this year. I am having some difficulty finding rooms in the two devastated towns.

We used arbaspaa.com to find a place - we stayed in Corniglia - the roof terrace views were amazing (we stayed in Camere Orietta - it was a room - not a B&B or anything) and we enjoyed so much, we are hoping to book the same place when we return (hubby has great memories or eating pizza on the rooftop terrace...sigh). Arbaspaa has listings for diff areas in and around CT

There is a one day travel festival in Edmonds on the 14th of April I believe. Its generally fairly busy but from Hansville it a fun and easy trip over there.

Geoffrey, I might have missed your response, but WHEN will you be Travelling to Le Cinque Terre? Regarding your upcoming visit to ETBD, be sure to check the hours of operation. I can't remember when they're open on Saturdays? As someone else mentioned, you might enjoy the travel festival and free lectures on the 14th. You'll find lots of accommodations listed for Riomaggiore and Vernazza in the Italy Guidebook at ETBD. Cheers!

They are open 9-5 on Saturday. It is a fun place to visit, especially if you can just walk up from the Edmonds ferry.
