We will be in Italy for the first 3 weeks in March and want to visit Cinque Terra. It sounds like it pretty much close down in winter. Do they consider March winter or spring? Would you recommend a day trip from Luca or Pisa or do you think an overnight would work?

march can be still winter or already spring...it's a chance you shoud be able to find very good hotel rates. You may try this B&B in Manarola ( last season they provided a special offer for the month of march)
