I've heard that some towns in the Cinque are very steep and hilly. We have been to both Positano, and the hill town of Cortona; both extremely hilly. How does Cinque towns compare??
Yeah, the towns aren't as large as Positano or Cortona. Keep in mind, the actual towns in Cinque Terre really aren't that hilly; they are nestled on somewhat flat areas along the coast. Now, the trails in between are obviously very hilly, but walking up the main streets in town isn't like walking up to the top of Cortona or Positano. Now, once you get a little ways away from the shore and once you start walking up some of the narrow side streets in each of the towns and up all of the stairs... that hilliness is comparable to Cortona and Positano.
