Last time I looked there was a pub crawl outlined in Rick's Venice book. I would imagine it is still in the 2009 book as well.

But in reality, you'll find them every where in Venice.
Apart from Rick's advice, it is hard to find good information. However, Ron is right. They're everywhere. You need to learn what to look for. The bar area will have a counter or display case with all kinds of snacks. Signs on the wall will advertise various wines by the pour. Once you get comfortable with the format, you can recognize one from across the campo.
I suggest starting in Canareggio.
Thanks for the input! I'm still awaiting my delivery of Rick's books (UPS says that they are currently in Sacramento). But we're too excited to wait on them and have been hunting on the web for ideas for an upcoming 7-week trip.
