Christmas Markets in Florence or nearby towns

My daughter-in-law and granddaughter will be in Florence in early December. Among other things, they are interested in Christmas markets. I'm not familiar with Christmas markets in Italy. How do they compare to those in Germany and Austria?

Can't speak for Florence, but Verona has a very nice one in the old center of town. Italians eagerly devouring bratwurst with sauerkraut, washed down with beer. All the usual Christmas Market items for sale, plus local specialties. It was a Sunday, so there was a Santa Charity 5k run/walk with all the participants in Santa Claus costumes ending with a lap around the Arena. Plus a Fire Brigade kids day so they could play on the trucks and climb the ladders (well tethered of course).

Further up the Adige, Trento is quite nice, but then it was part of Austria until 100 years ago, and Bolzano/Bozen is still South Tirol and largely German speaking.

There's an annual Christmas market in Piazza Santa Croce that should be open when your daughter-in-law and granddaughter are in Florence. I've never been to a Christmas market in Germany or Austria, so I have no idea how the one in Florence compares.
