When do the Christmas markets start in Rome? We will be there the last week of Nov/first week of Dec. Is Piazza Navona the only one?
Julie, we were in Rome in early December a few years ago and at that time the only market we saw was in Piazza Navona. Christmas preparations in Europe in general are not as early as they are here, and much less commercialized. In Italy they are more Christ centered, not Santa. The decorations around the city were just beginning to go up around the 13th or so. This is actually the Advent season, a season unto it's own. It was a magical time to be there!
