Christmas in Venice?

Could someone please tell me if spending the Christmas holidays in Venice is a good idea. High water? Museums closed?
Other problems? Thanks.

Museums are open, except for maybe on Christmas Day.
High water is hard to predict so far in advance but in many cases it's limited to only a few hours and only to some portions of the city. Just carry a swimming suit with you just in case. It will be fun.

They set up an outdoor ice skating rink in the Campo San Polo as well as some Christmas Market type booths selling cheeses and various cured meats as well as beer, wine and Gluehwein.
Don't let acqua alta scare you away. I've been there several times during the high water and it didn't slow me down one whit and provides added entertainment. Next time, I'll get a pair of those 10 euro plastic knee length overshoes the street vendors sell as soon as the water comes in.
Take a day trip to Verona before hand. It has an outstanding Christmas Market.
