Christmas in Venice

We're going to be in Venice on New Year's day. I've read a lot about what to expect on Christmas and New Year's eves, but not on January 1. Anything we should be prepared for? Are restaurants open? Markets, grocery stores? Any advice would be appreciated. TIA
