Christmas in Rome..with Teenagers!

Our family of four is traveling to Rome over the Christmas holiday. Any recommendations for: 1) great seafood on Christmas eve; and 2) places to dine on Christmas day? Thanks!

You've got me on those questions. I very often research restaurants before going on a trip, and somehow I never get around to eating at the intended places.

Anyone that has questions about anything to do with Rome should look RonInRome.com. Ron's website is the best there is about travel to this great city.

Another good source of information about domestic and international restaurants is Chowhound.com.

Ecco mi! I posted this in answer to another question a few days ago:

If you are in Rome for Christmas Eve Antica Taverna does a feast of the "seven" fishes dinner. I say "seven" because that is the traditional number but I think in 3 or 4 courses you actually get more than 7 fishes. Fixed price with wine was still only €45 last year. We've eaten there 3 Christmas Eves in a row. Be sure to reserve, which you can do through email on their website.

We have enjoyed Christmas dinner in the Ghetto twice. It is crazy busy as a lot of Italians eat out on Christmas Day and we saw many people hanging out hoping for a table, so be certain to make a reservation. We enjoyed Il Giardino Romano in 2013. In fact we went back for Easter we liked it so much.

Some places are insanely expensive so watch out for fixed price meals, especially in hotels, that can top €100 per person.
