I arrive in Rome on 12/24 and don't join my Rick Steves Tour until 4pm on Sun, Christmas Day. Does anyone know if I will have trouble finding a restaurant for lunch? I assume all the stores and museums will be closed, but churches will be open. Can anyone confirm from past experience?
You should be fine, Laurie, although you should probably start with Steves' recommended restaurants in Rome, and ask your hotel to make a reservation with one of them, and if closed, to go to the second or third choice. We did this last Christmas Eve in Firenze, and it was perfect. If you don't plan in advance, you may end up at an overpriced place with inflated prices and poor food. If Firenze had many open restaurants on 24/12, I have to believe Roma would, being such a bigger city. Buona Natale!
