Has anyone spent Christmas in Rome? Are museums, restaurants and stores closed on the 24th and 25th? Is this a good experience for a 4 day trip?
On Christmas Day all the museums and stores are closed. Some restaurants are open but be sure to have a reservation. On Christmas day you can stroll the piazzas and visit Trevi and the Spanish Steps. There is a display of nativity scenes near Piazza del Popolo with nativity scenes that span the centuries and the globe - this will be open on Christmas day.
Just a thought and I don't have my travel stuff with me so I stand corrected, but . . . I think December 24th is a Monday and I think that's the day a lot of attractions close in Rome, so if I'm correct you should also keep this in mind, because in effect you'll loose two of your four days with places being closed.
