Christmas in Florence???

We are planning to take our two 20-something kids to Rome on Dec 21st and then head to Florence on Dec 24th for five days (before we fly to England, most likely out of Florence). However, we would like to split up the time we currently have planned for Florence (Dec 24-29) with a stay in another town, but not sure where to go nor when to go (someone suggested Siena or Montepulciano for Christmas). We are a bit worried that everything will be closed on the 25 and 26th (and maybe the 27th since that's a Monday after Christmas). Any ideas on where else to go other than Florence, and/or suggestions on a great town/place to stay for Christmas? Thanks!

Mondays or not. December 27 is a working day in Italy, like the 24th (when shops close earlier than usual)

Everything but cinemas and some restaurants used to be closed on the 25th and the 26th. These days some corner stores managed by immigrants stay open at least on the 26th.

Some museums are open on the 26th, for instance the Uffizi are closed only on December 25 and January 1.
