anybody done this? i think it would be a great experience, and we were going to try to go, but i'm curious how big of a mess this might be. plus any details as to exactly how it goes down would be great. thanks!
Tickets are required for Papal masses, but the tickets are free. Request them here: http://www.pnac.org/pilgrim-information/tickets-for-papal-audiences-and-events/
thanks for the info. has anyone gone to it before that can give some info on how crowded it is, when you might want to get there, how long it is, etc.?
Quite crowded - this last year it started at 10 PM instead of midnight (Pope also does an address at 12 noon from the balcony of St. Peter's - far LESS crowded on XMAS day - and they moved the mass up to give him an opportunity for some rest!). It lasts 2+ hours. Watch out for the young Swiss lady in the red sweatshirt. She got up close and personal last year with the Pope! After "tackling" him as he walked to the altar, she got a private audience two weeks later! ****** http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/2009/12/25/2009-12-25_susanna_maiolo_who_tackled_pope_benedict_xvi_at_christmas_eve_midnight_mass_trie.html *****
