Christmas Eve in Milan

We will be in Milan for a day and half, a full day on Christmas Eve and half day on Christmas Day (traveling by train to Florence) We're having difficulty finding any sort of calender of events for Milan. And the ones we do find do not include anything for the 24/25th of December. Does the entire city shut down for the holiday?

We are also planing to be in or around Milan during Christmas. We are thinking of going to one of the nearby lakes or other small mt. towns to have a quiet white Christmas. We are from California so we don't get many White Christmas. We will be traveling from Florence to Venice then to Milan during that time. Perhaps stop somewhere along that line. At first we were going to be in Rome but it will be crowed, hotels will be in brief high season and some things will be closed. So we decided to go to Rome first. Will you be in Italy long? We will be just 10 or 11 days. Have a great time. Perhaps we will meet along the way. I'll be the older, kind of Italian looking guy with two Chinese looking women with me. Hi Carmelo, We will be in Italy for 2 weeks. We are flying into Milan, then heading down to Florence, Rome, and then back up to Venice. We thought about going to one of the Lake towns but since we will be coming off a full travel day (we fly in on the 23rd) we thought maybe we should just take it easy, we'll have plenty of traveling ahead of us. Plus, I'm originally from NYC, so I've had more than my share of white Christmas'. I know that no matter what we choose to do for the holidays, they will be amazing! What's better than Christmas in Italia?! Even if we're just wandering the streets of a closed down city. Safe travels to you and your family and Buon Natale! D.
