Christmas Eve

I have been told there is a small town near Pisa but not Pisa that has a wonderful Christmas Eve celebration. Everyone local takes part in the celebration, roasting chestnuts on the street. Does anyone know where this happens?

I can say that Chestnuts are roasting on streets all over Italy in the Autumn and throughout the Christmas season. Everywhere you go you will see Chestnuts roasting outside day and night.

Don't know the town you refer to, but everywhere you will find Chestnuts roasting and locals partying.

I am taking my family to Italy during Christmas and I was told that there was a special small town near Pisa to enjoy on Christmas Eve. Was hoping someone would comment about a specific place. A young woman told me she was there when she was young and never forgot the night, even though she has been to Italy many times since. Thank you for the info.

Lucca is next door to Pisa, and has a nice Christmas town square.

Some town squares host Christmas every day, other towns have traveling festivals that bring Christmas once or twice a week from October through December.

How much traveling will you do? I have friends who love Christmas at the Cinque Terra and the Italian Riviera up at Versilia, Viareggio, and Pietrasanta.

I think there's no place like Napoli at Christmastime, others prefer Rome at Christmas.
