My two daughters and I are traveling Christmas Day from Florence to Venice. Looking at the train schedule, only a very late night train runs and gets into Venice at 1 AM. Is there a better way to go and get there at a reasonable time? Also, what places will be open to eat at that evening in Venice? In the US, many Asian restaurants are open. Is this the case in Venice too?
Cathryn - After doing a little more searching, it appears that when searching train schedules on the trenitalia website, it does not give complete schedules for more than 45 days in advance. They might limit the schedule some on Christmas Day, but I don't think it will be THAT limited. Search for other days (less than 40 days from now) and that should give you a better idea of the daily schedule. Check the site again in about two weeks. Hope this helps.
My wife and I are in the same situation, but are now considering spending Christmas day in Florence instead of spending it traveling and in Venice. I didn't even check the train schedules for Christmas day, se we might not even have a choice. Thanks for the info and hopefully other peoplec can provide some more input.
Thanks David. Have you looked into place to eat on Christmas? I would rather not stay at a huge hotel that has a restaurant, but am afraid it will difficult to find someplace open to eat if we stay in a small hotel. Thanks
