Choosing between hotels: Hotel Italia Roma or Residenza San Pantaleo

I'm trying to decide what hotel to stay at in Rome? I have never been to Rome, so I'm having a hard time imagining what location is better. Residenza San Pantaleo is located right below Piazza Novana. Hotel Italia Roma is situated near the national museum. Help!!! Thank you.

We just spent four nights at Hotel Italia. It was a good location for us because we enjoy walking, it was within walking distance to Termini and because we knew we would be using the Metro to get to the Vatican and to the Borghese gallery. Hotel Italia is just a few blocks from the Repubblica Metro Station. I am not familiar with the other hotel you mentioned but I would assume it is not very close to a metro stop. We bought a Roma Pass on our first day which included 3 days of unlimited metro use.

Julie, we stayed at the Hotel Italia and enjoyed it very much. Easy walk from the train station. Good breakfast and quiet.

Have fun, Susan

Julie,
I also stayed at Hotel Italia this past May and it was a perfect location. A 15 minute walk from the train station, walking distance to the Colesseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps.

We stayed in Residenza San Pantaleo this summer for 3 nights and it was great. Will stay there again when we go back to Rome. Had A/C, bathroom in room, breakfast across the street at a cafe and a perfect location. We walked everywhere except the Vatican and Colosseum/Forum.
