Chiusi Scalo Train Station

Does anyone know if the train station in Chiusi is open on Sundays? I am trying to coordinate a day trip from Chiusi to Rome on a Sunday. We would go into Rome midmorning on a Sunday and return to Chiusi hopefully around 8pm-9pm on Sunday night. Trying to figure out most efficient transportation. Can we take a train from Chiusi straight to Rome without the train going back up to Florence? And from Rome straight to Chiusi without going through Florence? Thank you.

Train stations do not close, not even on Christmas day. At most they have limited train service on certain date. In any case there are plenty of trains going from Chiusi to Rome on a Sunday. There are trains departing at 8:31, 10:57, 11:45, 12:57 etc. The travel time is less than 2 hours. The ticket price is less than 10 euro one way (however the 11:45 train is an intercity, which is 25 min faster but costs twice as much, it also arrives at Rome Tiburtina station). Coming back the last regionale departs from Rome at 9:50pm (arrives at Chiusi at 11:42pm). Consult www.trenitalia.com for full schedule. The station is CHIUSI-CHIANCIANO
For Rome use all stations (TUTTE LE STAZIONI) if you want to see Tiburtina also.

Gerri, Chiusi station should be open on Sundays. You can take a train from Chiuse straight to Rome without going back to Florence. The Trenitalia site do not show any schedule on Sunday?? If you go to DB Bahn or Eurorail, you will find out the train schedule on Sundays.
Have a good trip.
