We are 2 seniors, arrive at the cruise port of Chioggia May 2. We will be spending 3 days in Venice ( we’ve been twice before). We understand that a water taxi is the quickest and easiest way to get to Venice. Any recommendations on:
1. Easy access 3 star hotels in Venice that are somewhat on the quiet side.
2. Best way to arrange for a water taxi that is not exorbitant. Companies like Viator charge a per person premium fee ($230 each). Thanks!
hey hey kdandavati
if you are coming from chioggia cruise port, i would think there would be taxis or buses that would take you to piazzale roma, right next to venice train station (venezia santa lucia). buses (arrivaveneto.it) will be less expensive, or if you find another couple from ship willing to share taxi to piazzale roma.
once you find hotel you want, there are private water taxis right in front of train station to take you as close to hotel as possible, check for shared water taxi (venicelink.com under shuttle or motoscafivenezia.it put in info and see the cost, or if close enough walk to hotel) we use booking.com to find hotel and reserve. others will post some of their hotels they have stayed in, we were in apartments. if you find one within your budget (in euros?) you can email them for a better rate if available.
don't use viator, it's a third party reseller. when you say 3 star hotels what do you mean, star hotels is for more amenities (lifts/elevator, A/C, people at front desk to help you and answer questions, breakfast).
always come back at ask questions before booking to get good bad and ugly. good luck & enjoy

There is an interesting route from Chioggia to Venice that involves a combination of coordinated boats and busses. It is line 11, and it looks interesting.
https://actv.avmspa.it//sites/default/files/avm/linea11/linea11_interactve.html
The problem with the Line 11 boat is that the dock is a very long walk from the cruise ship dock. There is a canal between the two, with only one bridge a long way from either dock.
Its indeed a 15 min walk, but walking to the bus stop will be similar...
Best way to book a water taxi is with the official company

(Viator is a third party reseller)
Hotel Ala is in a great location, steps from vaporetto stop with no bridges to cross, elevator, very good breakfast, wonderful staff

The official water taxi company does not show departures from Chioggia port… thanks
hey hey kdandavati
you can get more info from motoscafivenezia.it under contacts to get a quote and you can decide.
there is a form there to send and they will get back to you.
choose wherever hotel you'll be at, take bus or if you share a taxi to piazzale roma you can get a water taxi right there on the grand canal. so many are there, we've done that before. good luck

Aloha,
I filled out the form..Mahalo!
I have travelled from Venice to Chioggia and return via the No 11 route. It is fun.
Ferry to first island.
Get on the bus that meets the ferry.
Bus travel for a bit.
Bus gets on another ferry.
Short ferry ride.
More bus ride to the Lido vaporetto stop.
Then No 1 vaporetto to Venice and the Grand Canal.
I am also arriving in Chioggia on 5/2/26 on Viking. I am looking at a taxi to bus station and then water taxi. I am staying at Ruzzini Palace Hotel.
Would also appreciate tips on arranging transfers.
Hello Margie. My wife and I are arriving on the Athens to Venice Viking Cruise on May 2nd. We heard that a water taxi direct from Chioggia to Venice is the easiest way to get there with luggage. Would you want to share a direct water taxi with us? I’ve emailed the taxi company, awaiting their reply.
